So if you ever have a hankering to copy a disney movie and use it's songs for yourself good luck avoiding the disney police. Ok so there is no such thing as Disney police but there is a strick law protecting anything they have put out. It's called the copyright law.
It doesn't just protect disney though. It protects any idea that a person wants to protect. Now you have actually gain a copyright for your idea but it is completely possible.
As a teacher this has vast implications on what you can use and what you can't in the classroom. For example if you are a computer teacher you aren't going to be able to take a microsoft office package and copy it on to all your computers in the lab because that would be considered a violation of the copywrite laws. You would instead have to buy a copy for each computer that is owned and needs the programs. Bottom line, be carefull what you use in your classroom no matter who you are.

Techy stuff 2.0
So i tried to start this blog on a mac but every time i would look away from the computer it would gobble up everything I wrote and when i looked back the screen would be blank. Dont think i was simply hitting the delete button by accident because i was able to duplicate the problem 15 times (i counted) on command. The teacher couldn't even figure it out. i am now a firm believer that, the mac i was on if not all macs don't like me very much. PC all the way (except for garage band, thats pretty cool).
Ironically the subject of this blog was supposed to be how technology is usefull in the classroom. Considering the trouble i had i'm sure that some would conclude that any teacher is better off simply not messing with the stuff. However i don't think this way and nither should you. most of the problems a person experiences with technology result from lack of understanding of the item they are working with. I'm sure there is a reason for the mac gobbeling up my text, i simply don't know what it is yet. Blogging as i am now doing isn't the only way someone can use technology in the classroom though. Videos and other forms of media if correctly used can be a great asset for illustrating or explaning just about any topic that may come up.
Anyways the moral of my story is dive right in and roll with the punches when you're using technology. You may get a little frusterated but it's worth it in the end.
